Padmashree Dr. S.M.Hardikar
After obtaining F.R.C.S from U.K.(Edinburgh), in the year 1964, started practicing as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Pune in 1971, with a small Nursing Home of 10 beds. As a result of his clinical skill and good doctor patient relationship, within a period of 2 years the situation demanded expansion of his activities thus a Public Charitable Trust was established in 1974, namely Sushrut Medical Care & Research Society, which was based on professional expertise with social commitment. Soon Hardikar Hospital became popular brand name as a leading Accident Hospital and a referral for all types of Trauma and Orthopedic cases for the entire Western Maharashtra and beyond.
 

Hardikar Hospital has specialized teams for all surgeries of Orthopaedic, Joint Replacement Unit. Our orthopedic unit caters primarily hip and Knee replacements, Shoulder and Elbow joint replacements and secondarily Arthritic & Arthroscopic Surgeries.

These surgeries of late become very popular, result oriented and rewarding.The Histopathology laboratory provides opinions on all kinds of cases from Orthopedic, Urology and Respiratory Medicine and highly specialized areas are such as Neuropathology, Oncology and Frozen section studies including Neurosurgical cases are done routinely.

It is very important to have an infection-free environment. At Hardikar Hospital, all the surgeries are done in specially designed operation theatre. Hardikar Hospital has a setup of well known consultants. The operation theatre with world class sophisticated and modern equipments makes it comparable to the best in India, for the time in the country
